The Bereavement Ministry was established to offer a funeral luncheon for family members and friends of a registered parishioner who has died, as an extension of the corporeal works of mercy. Members of the group help by donating food items for the meal, or by setting up, serving, and cleaning up after the luncheon.
For more information on helping with this ministry, or if you would like to arrange a luncheon, please contact Fr. Michael Gendron at 623-5429, ext. 1 or [email protected].
Members of the St. Peter Parish Music Ministry support the congregation in song in small groups at whichever weekend liturgy they choose to attend. All members sing together as a choir on special occasions, including Christmas, Easter, First Communion and Confirmation.
The Music Ministry gathers for rehearsals in the church from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday evenings from September through June. Please check the weekly bulletin or parish website for exact rehearsal dates. Come and see what we are all about! We welcome new members at any time; previous musical training is not necessary. If you play an instrument, please consider sharing your talent with our community.
For more information about our Music Ministry, please contact our rehearsal director, Kathy Dallaire, at 483-8467, or contact the parish office.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry, called The Seamless Garment, is a group of women who meet the first Tuesday of each month from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the church basement. Members of the ministry either knit or crochet prayer shawls, with the intention of presenting them to men, women and children who may be going through a very difficult time. The recipients may be grieving the loss of a loved one, have a serious illness, or struggling with personal issues. The shawls are made with love and prayer and upon completion are blessed by Fr. Michael.
The Second Vatican Council called for the creation of Parish Councils in order to foster active participation of the laity in the life of the Church, particularly at the local community level. The objectives of the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Peter Church are to develop and implement a pastoral plan to promote the spiritual good of the parish, to foster unity and a sense of community in the parish, and to promote programs recommended by the pastor and the Parish Pastoral Council.
The Finance Council consists of members of the parish community who serve in an advisory capacity and assist the pastor in administration of the finances and temporal goods of the parish. Members are appointment by the Pastor.
